Built by the Salvation Army in 1916 and nicknamed Kastalinn (“The Castle”) by locals, it’s stood tall in the city’s old town for nearly a century.
We’re not about luxury. We’re about location, simplicity, and the kind of charm you can’t fake. With private rooms, shared bathrooms, no bunk-beds, self check-in, and optional breakfast, we give you everything you need - and nothing you don’t.
Some of our rooms even have a view of Hallgrímskirkja. Most importantly, every room has the city right outside the door.
We’re the kind of place you crash after a day hiking volcanoes or exploring Reykjavík’s art scene - not the kind of place where you spend all day working on your laptop.
But if you’re looking for a central, clean, character-rich place to sleep, recharge, and head out for your next adventure - we’ve got you covered.
Our four-story building is heritage protected - which means its classic facade will stay exactly as it is: a proud piece of Reykjavík’s architectural and social history. Inside, we’ve made thoughtful updates to fit the needs of today’s traveler.
If you’re into clean lines, creaky stairs, honest hospitality, and a little history - you’ll feel right at home here.
